Cheyenne, WY – The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued High Wind Warnings for multiple areas of southeast Wyoming, with gusts up to 70 mph expected through Tuesday morning, creating dangerous travel conditions along major interstates.

The first warning covers the South Laramie Range and Foothills, including Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie and Interstate 25 near Bordeaux, where winds will increase this evening and peak overnight. Sustained speeds of 35 to 45 mph, with gusts as high as 70 mph, are expected through 11 a.m. Tuesday.

A separate warning includes the North Snowy Range Foothills, impacting Arlington and Elk Mountain along I-80, where winds up to 65 mph could persist from 5 p.m. Monday through 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the NWS, the strongest winds will occur in the typically wind-prone corridors between Laramie and Rawlins, and Chugwater to Wheatland. The agency warns that high-profile and lightweight vehicles, including campers and tractor-trailers, may experience dangerous crosswinds or even blow-overs.

Travelers are urged to delay trips or use extreme caution overnight. Loose outdoor items should be secured to prevent damage or debris hazards.
