Cheyenne, WY – Winter conditions are finally set to return to southeast Wyoming as a strong cold front moves in Friday night, bringing sharply colder temperatures and multiple chances for light snow through the Thanksgiving weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, temperatures will initially warm on Friday ahead of the front, which is expected to arrive sometime between Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning. The system will bring a brief but potentially impactful round of snow showers, followed by rapidly falling temperatures Friday night into early Saturday.

Forecasters say that while significant accumulation is unlikely, moderate to locally heavier bursts of snow may develop during the frontal passage. This could create slick roads and reduced visibility for evening and overnight travelers across the region. Early Saturday will be much colder, with high temperatures struggling to rise out of the 20s and gusty north to northwest winds adding extra chill.

A second weak storm system is expected on Sunday, bringing another chance for light snow across portions of southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle. Cold air will remain locked in place through the second half of the weekend before a gradual warming trend begins Monday under clearing skies.

Travelers heading home from Thanksgiving gatherings should plan for periodic snow showers, colder temperatures, and potentially slick roads, especially Friday night and Sunday morning. NWS officials encourage residents to monitor updated forecasts as timing shifts could affect travel conditions.
