Riverton, WY – Blistering heat is set to grip Riverton on Sunday, with temperatures soaring to 97°F and calm winds offering little relief.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s dry, sunny conditions will give way to increasing wind and a slight chance of thunderstorms by Tuesday afternoon. Travelers along US-26 and nearby county roads should remain alert, as breezy weather and potential showers could create hazardous conditions midweek.

Sunday (July 13) will be the hottest day in the five-day stretch, with calm early winds shifting east by evening. Nighttime lows will dip to 59°F under mostly clear skies.

Monday will bring a near carbon copy of Sunday’s heat, peaking again at 97°F. Winds will be light but shifting northwest by afternoon. Monday night will stay partly cloudy, with temps holding in the upper 50s.

By Tuesday, Riverton residents should prepare for a shift: a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after noon, paired with gusty winds up to 24 mph. Breezy conditions will linger into Tuesday night, with lows around 55°F.

Wednesday continues the unsettled pattern, with another 30% storm chance after noon and slightly cooler highs near 84°F. Wednesday night sees a 10% chance of rain before skies partially clear.

Thursday wraps the stretch with another slim chance of storms and a high near 83°F.

Plan ahead: Limit outdoor activity Sunday and Monday during peak heat, stay hydrated, and monitor local updates as thunderstorms move in Tuesday.
