Rapid City, SD – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall across parts of South Dakota and Wyoming from midnight Monday through midnight Tuesday night, with up to 11 inches of snow expected in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Northern Black Hills, Northern Foothills, and parts of Wyoming, including Northern Campbell and Crook counties. Accumulations of 6 to 11 inches are expected in higher elevations, while lower areas may receive between 4 and 8 inches. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph, creating reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions.

Residents in cities such as Deadwood, Sundance, Spearfish, Belle Fourche, and Buffalo should prepare for difficult commutes on Tuesday morning and evening. Officials advise drivers to carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water, in case of travel delays.
