Cheyenne, Wyoming – Severe thunderstorms are expected to intensify across southeast Wyoming between 3 and 7 p.m. Monday, bringing a dangerous mix of large hail, damaging winds, and potential tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, storms will begin forming by mid-afternoon, with hailstones possibly exceeding 2 inches in diameter and wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph. Areas from Cheyenne north through Wheatland, Torrington, and Scottsbluff face the greatest risk. Flash flooding is also possible in low-lying and urban areas during heavy downpours.

Residents in Laramie, Douglas, and Glendo should prepare for strong winds and rapidly changing storm conditions. Tornadoes are possible along the I-25 corridor, with localized power outages and tree damage anticipated. WYDOT urges drivers to monitor travel conditions, especially on I-80 and US-26.

Stay indoors during storms, secure outdoor items, and keep cell phones charged in case of outages or emergency alerts. This round of storms follows several recent severe weather days in the region and could bring significant afternoon disruptions.

Additional watches or warnings may be issued as conditions evolve. The strongest activity is likely between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday.
