Wyoming – Clear skies stretch over Riverton this morning, but the air still bites at 28 degrees with wind chills near 18. Sunshine will quickly flip the script, and a sharp February warm-up is already underway.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, highs climb to 52 degrees today under sunny skies. Light winds turn west near 5 mph this afternoon. Snowbanks will soften, and runoff may leave wet pavement along Main Street and Highway 789.

Drivers should stay alert for refreezing after sunset. Temperatures fall to 19 degrees tonight under mostly clear skies. That freeze-thaw cycle can create slick patches before sunrise, especially on bridges and rural roads.

Saturday turns mostly sunny with highs near 53 degrees. Sunday warms even more, reaching 58 degrees with southwest winds gusting up to 20 mph. Washington’s Birthday brings the warmest air yet, with highs near 59 degrees and gusts up to 28 mph. It will feel more like early spring than mid-February.

The pattern shifts by Monday night. A 30 percent chance of showers develops late, followed by a 50 percent chance of rain Tuesday. As temperatures slide toward the lower 30s Tuesday night, snow showers may mix in. Even light accumulation could create slushy stretches for the Wednesday commute.

Meteorologists are tracking this midweek system closely. While much of the central U.S. trends 10 to 20 degrees above average into next week, Wyoming sits near the edge of that warmth.
