Cheyenne, WY – Early morning commuters across the southern Nebraska Panhandle and Goshen County, Wyoming, are facing dangerous travel conditions today due to thick fog blanketing the region.

According to the US National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday, October 9. Visibility in some areas has dropped below a quarter mile, creating hazardous driving conditions on rural highways and county roads.

Meteorologists advise drivers to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. The fog developed overnight and is expected to gradually lift later this morning as temperatures rise.

Communities affected include Scottsbluff, Torrington, Kimball, and Harrison, as well as portions of the central and southern Nebraska Panhandle. Motorists in these zones should prepare for patchy visibility and extended travel times, especially along Highway 26 and Interstate 80 corridors.

The weather service expects improving conditions after 9 a.m., though some low-lying areas may experience lingering fog until midmorning.
