Laramie County, WY – A motorcyclist is expected to recover after a collision with a Dodge Durango on Horse Creek Road Sunday night in Laramie County.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:18 p.m. Sunday on Horse Creek Road / WY 211 near mile marker 5. A Yamaha R6 motorcycle traveling westbound slowed to about 35 mph to turn onto Fenthway Road when it was struck from behind by a westbound Dodge Durango. Authorities said the impact caused the rider to be thrown from the motorcycle.

Troopers reported the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Officials said the rider was wearing a helmet, which likely prevented more severe injuries. The driver of the Durango was not injured.

Investigators said driver fatigue is being considered as the primary factor in the crash. The case remains under review and no charges have been filed at this time.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol also issued a reminder that driving while fatigued poses dangers similar to driving impaired. Authorities encouraged motorists to pull over and rest if they feel drowsy while on the road. Riders were also urged to wear protective gear when operating motorcycles.
