Cheyenne, WY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Hanna, Medicine Bow, and Elk Mountain until 4:45 PM MDT on Saturday. The warning includes the possibility of wind gusts up to 60 mph and pea-sized hail.
According to the NWS, the storm system is expected to impact areas including Hanna, Medicine Bow, Elk Mountain, Walcott, and McFadden. Residents in these areas are advised to seek shelter and stay indoors as the storm approaches.
The NWS advises that the severe weather poses a risk to the population of 1,029 people in the affected region, which includes four schools. The threat of high winds and hail could result in damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Power outages may also occur in these areas due to the expected wind speeds.
