Cheyenne, WY – Drivers across southeast Wyoming are waking up to dangerous winds this morning, with gusts topping 60 mph along major highways and more strong gusts expected later tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. MDT Saturday, followed by a High Wind Watch that will continue late tonight through Sunday afternoon for several areas, including the South and North Laramie Range, the Snowy Range Foothills, East Platte County, and parts of Interstate 25 and Interstate 80.

Wind speeds are reaching 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph in places like Bordeaux, Arlington, Elk Mountain, and Vedauwoo. These conditions are expected to cause hazardous crosswinds, especially for campers, tractor-trailers, and other high-profile vehicles traveling between Cheyenne, Laramie, and Wheatland.

Forecasters warn that wind-prone areas along I-80 and I-25 could see continued dangerous travel conditions through Sunday afternoon, with the potential for property damage and travel delays.

The NWS urges drivers to use caution and monitor updated forecasts before traveling through affected areas.
