Cheyenne, WY — Strong winds sweeping across southeast Wyoming today are expected to create hazardous conditions for travelers along Interstate 80. Wind gusts could reach up to 65 mph near the Arlington area and the I-80 Summit, remaining intense through 5 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne, a High Wind Warning is in effect, with gusts strong enough to impact high-profile vehicles and semi-trucks. Travelers are urged to check road conditions before heading out and to avoid unnecessary trips during peak wind periods.

Daytime highs across the region will vary from 39°F in Rawlins to 49°F in Kimball under sunny skies. Winds are expected to ease tonight, giving way to clear conditions. Overnight lows will drop to 17°F in Baggs and 28°F in Wheatland, with breezy conditions lingering west of the Laramie Range.

Thursday brings calmer weather, with sunny skies and highs reaching 56°F. Breezes will diminish to 15 mph by evening, offering a reprieve for outdoor activities. However, residents should prepare for potential snow by late Sunday. A system moving through the region may bring rain turning to snow showers. Highs on Sunday are forecasted at 48°F, with increasing cloud cover signaling the approaching weather shift.
