Cheyenne, WY – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued an elevated fire-weather outlook for Wyoming, effective from Thursday morning through Friday morning. An upper-level trough advancing eastward is expected to bring isolated dry thunderstorms, posing a significant wildfire risk in areas with receptive fuels.

The NWS reports that the thunderstorms will present a mix of wet and dry conditions, creating uncertainty about the fire risk’s extent. Elevated fire-weather conditions are also forecasted for the southern Cascades and northern Great Plains, including parts of Montana and Nebraska.

Wyoming residents are urged to stay updated on weather forecasts and prepare for potential wildfires, especially in dry, fuel-rich areas. Strong southerly winds combined with hot, dry conditions are expected to persist into the evening, increasing the fire threat. The NWS will continue monitoring forecast trends and provide updates as necessary.
