Wyoming Earthquake: 2.5 Magnitude Shakes Kelly – Did You Feel It?

Kelly, WY – A 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Kelly, Wyoming, early this morning. The tremor was recorded at approximately 1:51 a.m. local time, just 14 kilometers east-southeast of the small community. Although relatively minor, some residents may have felt the shaking.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake had a shallow depth of only 1.9 kilometers, potentially increasing its impact at the surface. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or damage.

Seismic activity is not uncommon in the region, which lies near the Teton and Gros Ventre mountain ranges. The USGS encourages residents who may have felt the earthquake to submit reports online to help scientists gather more data.
