Douglas, WY – A 15-year-old Montana girl is safe today after Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers intercepted a vehicle on Interstate 25 carrying her across state lines, following an FBI tip late Wednesday evening.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the investigation began on November 22 when the FBI reportedly tracked cell phone pings showing that two men from Oklahoma had allegedly picked up the teen in Montana. The pings indicated the group was traveling south through Wyoming toward Oklahoma.

Troopers were alerted through a BOLO advisory and were told the suspects’ vehicle was last detected near mile marker 135 on I-25. A nearby trooper soon spotted the vehicle, initiated a traffic stop with assistance from the Converse County Sheriff’s Office, and identified the missing girl inside. After taking control of the scene, troopers arrested the two men involved in the transport.

The Wyoming Department of Family Services cared for the teen before arranging her return home to her parents in Montana. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say the case remains an active federal investigation now under the jurisdiction of the FBI. No additional details—including the suspects’ identities—are being released at this time.

Residents traveling through Converse County on Wednesday night reported delays as troopers cleared the scene, though traffic quickly returned to normal.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact Wyoming Highway Patrol or the FBI as the investigation continues.
