DOUGLAS, Wyo. – A hard freeze is on the way for much of central Wyoming as temperatures plunge into the mid-20s overnight, prompting a Freeze Warning from midnight to 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
The warning includes Converse County, the Ferris and Seminoe Mountains, the North Snowy Range foothills, and parts of Carbon County — including Douglas, Glenrock, Baggs, and Arlington. According to the NWS, subfreezing temperatures could damage unprotected plumbing and kill remaining crops or garden plants.
Residents are urged to disconnect garden hoses, insulate outdoor pipes, and cover or bring in sensitive plants. Pet owners should ensure animals have warm shelter overnight, as wind chills could dip even lower in open areas along I-25 and Highway 30.
Daytime highs will rebound slightly Tuesday afternoon, but another cold night is possible midweek as dry air settles over the region.
