Hampton, NH – A wrong-way driver on I-95 led to a fatal Massachusetts crash, leaving one man dead and another injured.
Just before midnight on Nov. 27, New Hampshire State Troopers observed a Tesla traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-95 in Hampton. Despite emergency intervention, the vehicle crossed into Massachusetts, where it collided with a car driven by Jeremy Cole, 49, of Exeter. Cole, a sergeant at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla’s driver, Keoma Duarte, 40, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators found Duarte had mistakenly entered I-95’s northbound lanes from a closed liquor store parking lot.
New Hampshire State Police are pursuing charges, while Massachusetts authorities continue their investigation.
This tragedy has rocked the local community, particularly Exeter and Beverly, where Cole worked tirelessly for public safety. Residents are calling for stricter highway safety measures.
