Woodridge, Ill. — On Tuesday, June 10 at approximately 8:28 a.m., the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District was dispatched to the 3300 block of 83rd Street in Woodridge. The press release noted that the call was in response to an activated fire alarm in the building. While crews were enroute to the scene, dispatchers received several more calls reporting smoke in the building, upgrading the alarm to a structure fire.

Upon arrival at the scene, several people were still in the building. The first unit to arrive on the scene began a fire attack and started searches. A child was rescued from the second floor and transported to the hospital.

The first engine to arrive was able to extinguish the fire. Searches throughout the building continued but no further occupants remained in the building. From arrival to when the fire was extinguished, the response lasted approximately ten minutes. The fire crews remained at the scene until approximately 10:30 a.m. to confirm residents were safe and the fire was under control. Departments are still investigating the cause of the fire at this time.

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District was aided by the Darien-Woodridge Fire District, Lombard Fire Department and Downers Grove Fire Department. The Woodridge Police Department was also present and assisted at the structure fire.
