Vienna, WV – A domestic dispute in Vienna on Friday night ended with one woman hospitalized and a local man under arrest, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence on 12th Avenue around 10:17 p.m. on Oct. 17 after receiving reports of an altercation in progress. The caller, identified as Skylar Bland, told dispatchers he believed he had accidentally run over Katie Gibson’s leg while attempting to leave the scene.
According to deputies, Gibson was found lying on the ground parallel to the roadway, covered with a blanket and appearing injured. She was reportedly intoxicated, with a strong odor of alcohol noted by deputies, and was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment before being transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital for specialized care. Officials said she suffered approximately six pelvic fractures.
Mr. Bland told deputies he had come to pick up his children, citing concern for their safety. He stated that Gibson allegedly grabbed onto his truck mirror as he was leaving and fell, causing the vehicle to roll over her leg.
The following day, Oct. 18, deputies arrested Skylar Wesley Bland, 34, of Valley Mills Drive, on charges of malicious assault and child neglect. He was taken to the holding center for processing and is awaiting arraignment.
Deputies said charges for Ms. Gibson are pending.
