Milwaukee, WI – A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected across southern Wisconsin on Wednesday, creating hazardous road conditions. Travelers should plan extra time for commutes, especially along I-94, where freezing rain is most likely to accumulate.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Milwaukee, snow is expected to begin Wednesday afternoon before transitioning into sleet and freezing rain by the evening. The highest risk of ice accumulation is south of I-94, where up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible. Roads, sidewalks, and overpasses could become slick, making travel dangerous overnight and into Thursday morning.

Wednesday:Snow begins in the afternoon with a high of 32°F. By evening, sleet and freezing rain mix in, with an 80% chance of precipitation. Winds will shift from the southeast to the southwest at 5–15 mph.

Thursday:The system clears, leaving mostly sunny skies and a high of 39°F. Winds will pick up, gusting as high as 30 mph.

Friday:Cold air returns, with a morning low of 13°F and a high of 27°F under partly sunny skies.

Saturday:Snow is likely in the afternoon and evening, with a 70% chance of precipitation and a high of 32°F.

Sunday:A lingering 30% chance of snow, with temperatures remaining near freezing.
