Green Bay, Wisconsin – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of northern Wisconsin, with snow expected to create slippery travel conditions overnight into early Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, mixed precipitation will develop Thursday evening before transitioning to all snow, with total accumulations of 2 to 4 inches expected. The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. CST Friday.
The advisory covers Vilas, Oneida, Forest, and Florence counties, including communities such as Rhinelander, Crandon, Presque Isle, Manitowish Waters, Lac du Flambeau, Boulder Junction, and Florence.
Road conditions are expected to deteriorate overnight as snow accumulates, leading to slick and snow-covered roads. Impacts may extend into the early Friday morning commute, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and rural highways.
Motorists are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution while driving. Updated road conditions can be obtained by calling 511.
No significant wind or blowing snow impacts are expected at this time, but even moderate snowfall rates could quickly reduce traction overnight.
