Green Bay, WI – A developing winter storm may bring 5 to 9 inches of snow across northeastern Wisconsin on Saturday, prompting a Winter Storm Watch for much of the region, including the Green Bay metro, Door County, the Lakeshore, and surrounding inland communities.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, heavy snow is possible Saturday morning through late Saturday night. Counties under the watch include Brown, Outagamie, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc, Door, Kewaunee, Southern Marinette, and Southern Oconto.
Forecasters say the storm may produce periods of moderate to heavy snow, reducing visibility and quickly covering roadways. With many people traveling home after the Thanksgiving holiday—and hunters still active in the woods—officials warn that conditions could deteriorate quickly.
Travel across major routes including I-41, Highway 29, Highway 57, Highway 54, and US-151 may become difficult by midday Saturday. Road conditions could worsen through the afternoon and evening as snow continues.
While uncertainty remains regarding exact storm track and snowfall totals, confidence is growing that a plowable snow event will impact the region. The NWS urges residents and travelers to monitor updated forecasts as Saturday approaches.
Those who must travel should be prepared for snow-covered roads, low visibility, and longer travel times. Hunters heading into rural areas should use caution on unplowed trails and backroads, especially during early morning hours.
Updates to the watch may be issued Friday as forecasters refine snowfall projections.
