Milwaukee, WI – A winter storm warning remains in effect for portions of east-central and southeast Wisconsin, with additional snowfall expected into Friday. Hazardous road conditions and bitter cold temperatures will make travel difficult as residents prepare for Valentine’s Day.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Milwaukee/Sullivan, moderate to heavy snow has already dropped 5 to 7 inches across the region. An additional 1 to 2 inches is possible overnight into Thursday morning before tapering off. Another round of snow is expected Friday afternoon into Saturday, potentially bringing heavier accumulations.
Thursday will see clearing skies with highs near 20°F, though wind chills will remain below zero. Friday’s forecast includes increasing clouds with a high of 26°F before another winter system arrives in the evening, bringing potentially heavy snow.
Roads remain slick, especially bridges and overpasses, so drivers should allow extra time for travel. The NWS advises keeping an emergency kit in vehicles, including flashlights, food, and water.
Looking ahead, the weekend remains snowy, with highs in the low 30s. Conditions improve Sunday, but another chance of snow returns Monday night.
