Green Bay, WI – The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of central and eastern Wisconsin, in effect from 8 a.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Sunday, as a strong system brings heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions to the region.
Forecasters expect 7 to 11 inches of snow across much of the area, with locally higher totals over 12 inches possible near the Lake Michigan shoreline, particularly in Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc Counties. Areas farther inland, including Green Bay, Appleton, Waupaca, and Stevens Point, are forecast to receive 4 to 10 inches.
The heaviest snow is expected Saturday afternoon and evening, leading to snow-covered roads, low visibility, and hazardous travel for holiday drivers and hunters. “Travel could be very difficult at times,” the National Weather Service warned.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Those who must drive should carry an emergency kit with food, water, blankets, and flashlights. For current road conditions, call 511 or visit 511wi.gov.
Snow will taper off early Sunday morning, but cold and slick conditions will likely persist into the start of the new week.
