Green Bay, WI – The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory for Lake Michigan, as strong winds and waves are expected to make boating dangerous through Saturday. Winds from the southwest will shift to the northwest this afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. High waves, between 2 to 4 feet, are predicted, creating hazardous conditions for small craft and personal watercraft.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain in effect until 1 a.m. on Saturday. Boaters are urged to avoid the water due to hazardous conditions and strong winds, which are expected to persist throughout the day and night. Local law enforcement has also cautioned residents and visitors near the shoreline to exercise caution due to the increased wave activity.

The forecast for Green Bay indicates that conditions will remain windy on Saturday, with calmer weather expected by Sunday afternoon. Today’s high will reach 78°F, with mostly sunny skies, but winds will increase throughout the day. On Saturday, the area will see scattered showers, a high of 61°F, and continued strong winds.

For those planning to head out on the water, it’s recommended to wait until conditions improve by Sunday. Small craft operators are advised to remain docked until the advisory lifts to ensure safety. Looking ahead, Sunday’s forecast shows showers likely, followed by a cooler Monday with temperatures dropping to the low 50s.
