Milwaukee, WI – The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a pair of advisories for southern Wisconsin, warning of dense fog this morning followed by powerful winds Wednesday, conditions that could complicate Thanksgiving travel across much of the region.

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with visibility dropping below a quarter mile in spots from Madison to Fond du Lac. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance while on the road.

Following the fog, a Wind Advisory will take effect Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., covering counties from Sauk and Dane east to Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha. Forecasters expect west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, and isolated gusts near 50 mph along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

The NWS warns that these winds could down tree limbs, cause isolated power outages, and make driving difficult, especially for trucks, campers, and high-profile vehicles on open stretches of I-43, I-90, and I-94.

Motorists are advised to secure outdoor objects, plan for slower travel times, and stay alert for changing conditions as the busy holiday travel period begins.
