Oshkosh, WI – The winners of the 2026 Wisconsin wild turkey, pheasant and waterfowl stamp design contest have been announced, with local artists earning statewide recognition for their work.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wautoma resident Sam Timm took first place in both the wild turkey and waterfowl design contests, while Caleb Metrich of Tomahawk earned first place in the pheasant contest. Their artwork will be featured on the 2026 editions of Wisconsin’s wildlife stamps, which hunters are required to purchase to legally harvest these game birds.

Judging took place Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Wisconsin Waterfowl Expo in Oshkosh. The panel included Tally Hamilton, a Ducks Unlimited regional biologist; Mark Kakatsch, Wisconsin Wildlife Federation vice president; and Pat Gregory, a professional decoy carver.

Each year, the contest highlights the talent of Wisconsin artists while supporting conservation. Proceeds from stamp sales fund habitat management, restoration, education and outreach projects that benefit turkeys, pheasants and waterfowl across the state.

While hunters must purchase stamps to participate in the season, the DNR notes that anyone can buy the collector’s versions to help support grassland, wetland and forest management efforts.
