Green Bay, WI – Snowfall totals across Wisconsin remain below average for the 2024–25 winter season as of January 22, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The deficit is expected to persist through the month, except for lake-effect areas near the Michigan border.

The NWS reports Green Bay has accumulated 12.4 inches of snow so far, compared to 28.7 inches last season and a historical average of 26.5 inches by this date. Wausau has recorded 12.7 inches, significantly less than the 16 inches last year and the average of 32.3 inches. Rhinelander stands out with 22.2 inches of snowfall this season, near its typical 21.8 inches but well under the 39.4-inch norm.

Meteorologists predict limited snowfall for much of the state over the coming weeks, with the exception of enhanced activity near Lake Michigan. The lack of snow could impact winter recreational activities, but travel conditions remain largely unaffected.

Residents are advised to monitor NWS updates as colder temperatures could create icy patches even in areas with minimal snowfall.
