Milwaukee, WI – A cold and snowy pattern is expected across Wisconsin from Nov. 29th through Dec. 5th, bringing several rounds of accumulating snowfall and the first widespread winter weather stretch of the season.

According to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, temperatures will remain below normal across the entire state, including Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Eau Claire, and the Northwoods. Daytime highs in the 20s and 30s, combined with freezing nighttime lows, will support accumulating snow with each system.

NOAA’s precipitation outlook also highlights a strong above-normal precipitation signal, suggesting multiple disturbances may pass through the Upper Midwest. Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin may see system-driven snowfall, with light-to-moderate accumulations depending on storm timing and track.

Northern Wisconsin — including Rhinelander, Wausau, Superior, Ashland, and Hayward — faces the strongest snow potential, with both system snow and lake-effect expected to boost totals, particularly early in the week.

Central Wisconsin — including Stevens Point, Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, and the I-39 corridor — will see multiple rounds of snow, potentially impacting morning commutes and local travel.

Southern Wisconsin — including Janesville, Beloit, Monroe, and the I-43 corridor — may see a mix at the onset of some systems but should transition to accumulating snow as colder air deepens.

Forecasters emphasize that this pattern is not a single major storm, but a multi-system winter stretch, capable of producing slick roads, reduced visibility, and travel disruptions across the state.

As early December begins, Wisconsin residents should prepare for a prolonged period of winter conditions.
