Green Bay, Wis. – A much-needed break from soaking storms is coming Thursday, July 17, as Green Bay and surrounding areas finally dry out. After days of heavy rain and a Flood Watch active through 10 p.m. Wednesday, skies begin to clear just in time for a brief return to summer normalcy.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest showers will taper off before dawn, giving way to a calmer Thursday with highs near 72°F and patchy clouds. Winds from the north at 10 to 14 mph will make it feel cooler but more stable after recent downpours.
Green Bay, De Pere, and Door County residents can expect mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures Thursday and Friday. Light winds and dry conditions will improve visibility and driving on Highway 41 and other routes impacted by recent ponding. It’s a solid window for outdoor plans — at least until Saturday.
By Saturday afternoon, a 30% chance of showers returns, mainly after 1 p.m., continuing into Sunday night. While not widespread, pop-up storms could disrupt weekend events and lakefront activities. Be weather-aware if you’re traveling or camping across northeastern Wisconsin.
Looking ahead, more unsettled weather is expected into early next week, with isolated storms possible Monday and Tuesday, especially in the late afternoon hours.
