Madison, WI – Wisconsin will shiver under the coldest air of the season as a powerful Arctic front sweeps through the Midwest early next week. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, temperatures will tumble rapidly Monday evening, November 10, leading to widespread subfreezing conditions by early Tuesday morning, November 11.

Forecast lows include 22°F in Madison, 24°F in Milwaukee, and 21°F in Green Bay, with colder readings in northern Wisconsin — Rhinelander and Wausau could drop to around 16°F. Gusty northwest winds up to 30 mph will make it feel even colder, with wind chills dipping into the single digits across much of the state overnight.

The National Weather Service offices in Milwaukee, Green Bay, and La Crosse have issued freeze warnings for the entire state. Behind the front, strong northwest winds blowing over Lake Superior and Lake Michigan could produce scattered lake-effect flurries across northern and eastern counties late Monday and early Tuesday.

According to the Weather Prediction Center’s Day 3–7 Hazards Outlook, Wisconsin sits near the core of a massive “Frost/Freeze” corridor spanning from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast — one of the broadest November cold events in recent memory.

Tuesday’s highs will only reach the low- to mid-30s, nearly 20 degrees below normal for early November. Another cold night is expected Tuesday before gradual moderation later in the week.

Residents should bring pets inside, wrap outdoor plumbing, and cover any sensitive plants still outside. Drivers should also watch for frost and light icing on bridges and rural roads before sunrise.
