Milwaukee, WI – A cold front is expected to bring strong northwest winds and scattered snow showers to southeastern Wisconsin on Wednesday. The National Weather Service forecasts wind gusts up to 40 mph, leading to blowing and drifting snow, which could cause hazardous driving conditions on key roadways, including I-94.
According to the National Weather Service, snow showers will begin Wednesday afternoon, peaking between 2 and 4 p.m. These conditions are likely to reduce visibility and make roads slick. Residents planning to travel should allow extra time and use caution, particularly during the evening commute.
By Wednesday evening, temperatures will drop into the teens, with wind chill values nearing zero. Outdoor furniture and holiday decorations should be secured before winds intensify overnight, reaching gusts as high as 45 mph near the Lake Michigan shoreline.
The cold blast will continue into Thursday morning, with wind chills plunging to -5°F to -10°F. Residents are advised to bundle up, as exposed skin could be at risk for frostbite in minutes. Clear skies on Thursday will offer some relief, but temperatures will remain bitterly cold, with highs near 30°F.
Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday bring sunnier skies and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs in the mid-30s to low-40s. However, another system may approach by Sunday, bringing a slight chance of rain or snow.
