Hurley, WI – A fresh burst of lake effect snow is causing hazardous travel conditions across Iron County as a winter storm warning remains in effect through 1 p.m. Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, MN, northern parts of Iron County—including Hurley and the northwestern area of the Lac du Flambeau Band tribal lands—can expect an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow. Other areas in the county may receive up to 3 inches.
Roads across the region are expected to be slippery, especially during the Monday morning commute. Officials warn drivers to exercise caution as visibility may be reduced and untreated surfaces could become hazardous.
This snowfall adds to an already active late March pattern, with lake effect snow remaining a key factor in northern Wisconsin. Drivers are urged to call 511 or visit 511wi.gov for the latest road conditions.
Those who must travel should keep emergency supplies—such as flashlights, food, and water—in their vehicles in case of delays or stranded conditions. Snow is expected to taper off by early afternoon, but lingering impacts may persist through the evening.
