Wisconsin – Snowflakes drift across dark pavement this morning, soft at first glance but slick under tires. By later today, accumulating snow could quickly change travel conditions across north-central and northeast Wisconsin, especially during afternoon and evening commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, periods of snow today and tonight may create slippery roads at times. Light snow continues Friday, adding to travel concerns during the morning commute. While totals remain modest, repeated bursts of snow can coat untreated roads and reduce visibility with little warning.

The impacts stretch beyond today. Light snow may linger at times into Saturday, keeping road conditions variable across Brown, Outagamie, Oconto, Shawano, and Door counties. Drivers along I-41, Highway 29, and local connectors should expect slick stretches, particularly near intersections and bridges. Plan extra time and keep speeds down, even if snowfall looks light.

The more serious threat arrives late in the weekend. Arctic air pushes into Wisconsin Saturday night and Sunday, tightening its grip into early next week. Wind chills are expected to plunge between 10 and 30 degrees below zero by Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Exposed skin can freeze quickly in those conditions, even during short outdoor trips.

Residents should limit time outside during the coldest periods, wear insulated layers, and ensure vehicles are winter-ready. Check antifreeze levels, carry emergency supplies, and keep phones charged. Pets should be brought indoors, and vulnerable neighbors may need extra help.

Snow chances taper early next week, but the cold holds on. Additional updates or advisories may be issued as conditions evolve.
