Green Bay, Wis. – Strong storms are sweeping through northern Wisconsin early Sunday, bringing wind gusts of up to 50 mph and the threat of hail and localized flooding across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, sub-severe wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph will continue through 6 a.m. as a storm line pushes through northern counties, including Vilas, Oneida, Marathon, and Marinette. Thunderstorms are expected again Sunday afternoon and evening, some of which may become severe with damaging winds and hail, especially near Green Bay, Waupaca, and Oshkosh.

Heavy rainfall could lead to ponding on roads and minor flooding in low-lying areas. Motorists should use caution on highways like I-41 and US-51, especially during afternoon peak travel. Spotters are encouraged to report wind damage or flooding to the NWS.

Looking ahead, additional thunderstorms are possible Monday and again Wednesday into Wednesday night, though severity is still uncertain.

Warnings remain in effect Sunday; residents should stay weather-aware and monitor updates through midweek.
