Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Another surge of strong thunderstorms could impact southern Wisconsin late this afternoon and evening, with the highest risk stretching along and south of I-94. Damaging winds and small hail may accompany the strongest cells, especially in areas closest to the Illinois border.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, the best window for storms arrives between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, focusing on communities like Janesville, Kenosha, and Milwaukee’s southern suburbs. Simulated radar shows the most intense activity staying near the state line, though forecasters caution that storms could shift north with changing conditions.

Residents near I-94 should prepare for sudden wind gusts and brief hail. Those traveling between Milwaukee, Racine, and the Beloit area may face localized downpours and lightning, leading to hazardous driving conditions. Secure loose outdoor items and stay weather-aware if planning to be outdoors this evening.

The greatest threat may stay just south of Wisconsin, but any shift could bring severe weather into the state quickly. Additional advisories are possible as the situation develops.
