Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Scattered thunderstorms are drenching parts of Wisconsin this morning, with heavier rounds expected to push into central and south-central areas by tonight, potentially triggering localized flooding and gusty winds through Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, organized storms are likely tonight into Thursday across southern and central counties, including Madison, La Crosse, and Baraboo, before weakening near Lake Michigan. These storms could drop 1 to 2 inches of rain in some areas, especially where cells train over the same locations.
Areas such as Juneau, Dodge, and Sauk counties face the highest probability—above 70%—for receiving more than an inch of additional rainfall. Motorists should watch for ponding on roads and reduced visibility during heavy downpours. The risk of flash flooding increases if storms linger over saturated ground. Gusty winds may also accompany the strongest cells, especially during peak evening hours.
Residents are urged to monitor alerts, avoid water-covered roads, and charge devices in case of power outages. Rain chances taper off late Thursday, but additional advisories could be issued if rainfall totals climb.
