La Crosse, Wisconsin – Stormy skies and gusty winds will return to western Wisconsin by midday Wednesday, July 30, as a renewed round of summer thunderstorms rolls through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, storms may begin developing after 2 p.m., with the strongest activity expected west of the Mississippi River. While the overall risk is low, damaging wind gusts remain the primary threat. Showers and storms may linger into the evening, particularly for counties along and west of Highway 61.
Drivers should remain alert during afternoon commutes, especially on I-90 and Highway 14. Reduced visibility and sudden gusts may affect travel conditions. Wednesday’s high will reach the mid-70s, but calm weather is expected to return overnight with partly cloudy skies and temperatures dipping into the upper 50s.
Thursday and Friday will bring a break from the storms, with sunshine and highs near 76°F and 78°F, respectively. Weekend weather remains dry and warm, ideal for outdoor events across La Crosse County and surrounding areas.
A slight chance of showers returns Sunday and Monday, but no hazardous weather is expected after Wednesday.
Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and check weather updates throughout the day Wednesday. No emergency coordination webinars are scheduled at this time, but further advisories are possible if storms intensify.
