Milwaukee drivers face a stormy stretch as thunderstorms move into southeastern Wisconsin this weekend, threatening wet roads and slower commutes. Heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding in low-lying spots and on stretches of I-94 by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service, southeastern Wisconsin will see a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday, with higher rainfall totals possible in thunderstorms. Gusty winds up to 10 mph and repeated rounds of rain could challenge drivers and dampen outdoor weekend plans.

Saturday afternoon brings the highest storm risk, followed by scattered storms through Sunday night. Rainfall between one-tenth and a quarter of an inch is possible, with heavier bursts in thunderstorms. Travel along I-94, Highway 41, and Milwaukee’s surface streets could become hazardous, especially for late-night drivers.

Residents should avoid flooded intersections, allow extra time for travel, and secure outdoor furniture ahead of storms. Those with Saturday events should plan indoor options, as lingering showers may continue into Sunday morning.

Looking ahead, showers ease early next week, but scattered rain chances remain. Monday offers a brief break with partial sun before storms return late Monday night into Tuesday.

Warnings remain in effect through Sunday night, and additional advisories may follow if rainfall intensifies.
