Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Sweltering heat and strong thunderstorms will bear down on southeast Wisconsin Saturday, putting Milwaukee-area residents at risk from both air quality concerns and hazardous weather.

According to the National Weather Service, heat index values near 95°F are expected Saturday afternoon, with the strongest impacts felt between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. An Air Quality Advisory remains in effect through 11 p.m. Saturday for Milwaukee, Kenosha, Ozaukee, and Racine counties due to unhealthy ozone levels for sensitive groups. Residents with asthma or heart conditions are urged to avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.

By Saturday evening, thunderstorms will develop across much of the region. Gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall are possible from 6 p.m. Saturday into early Sunday. Spotter activation may be needed in Waukesha, Dodge, and Jefferson counties if severe weather develops.

Travel on I-94 and I-43 could become hazardous during storm hours. Drivers should avoid unnecessary trips and secure loose outdoor items before evening. With more storms possible Tuesday into Wednesday, emergency kits and charging devices should be prepped now.
