Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to ramp up across southern Wisconsin by late Monday morning, bringing potential lightning, gusty winds, and localized downpours through the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, storm chances rise significantly after 10 a.m., with peak coverage likely between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. While no widespread severe weather or all-day rain is expected, isolated thunderstorms could produce dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, especially across Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Madison.

Rain chances increase steadily throughout the day, with cities like Janesville, Beaver Dam, and Sheboygan seeing up to a 65% likelihood of storms by 5 p.m. Commuters and anyone with outdoor plans should stay weather-aware and be prepared to seek shelter quickly.

If thunder roars, move indoors. Officials recommend postponing outdoor activities during peak hours and charging mobile devices in advance. Winds may become gusty with any stronger storms, and brief heavy rain could reduce visibility on roads like I-94 and Highway 41.

Storm activity is expected to taper off after midnight, but isolated showers may persist into early Tuesday. Updates will follow if additional alerts are issued.
