Green Bay, Wis. – Strong to isolated severe thunderstorms may develop across far northeast Wisconsin this afternoon, bringing the threat of damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning through 8 p.m. Areas including Green Bay, Marinette, Sturgeon Bay, and Escanaba face the highest risk.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a warm and unstable airmass could trigger scattered storms between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday. Storm development remains uncertain, but where storms do form, gusts up to 60 mph, ½-inch hail, and lightning could pose hazards to outdoor events and travel. The greatest risk zone stretches from Wausaukee and Crivitz east toward Lake Michigan.

Drivers are urged to stay alert for sudden downpours and strong crosswinds, especially on Highways 41 and 42. Residents should secure outdoor items, avoid open water activities, and have a weather radio or alerts enabled on mobile devices.

While today carries medium confidence for storm activity, a stronger round of thunderstorms is likely again on Saturday with up to an 80% chance across central and eastern Wisconsin.
