Green Bay, WI – A spring storm system is set to bring strong winds and a mix of rain and snow to Wisconsin on Sunday, with impacts expected to last into the week. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, especially in areas affected by melting ice and rising river levels.
According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday for counties including Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet. South winds will reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. These winds could knock down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages.
Along with the high winds, a rain-snow mix is expected early Sunday morning, particularly in northern and central Wisconsin. Snow showers may briefly reduce visibility, making travel difficult. Ice conditions on Lake Winnebago and Green Bay will continue to deteriorate due to warm temperatures, increasing the risk of ice jams and localized flooding.
Looking ahead, Monday’s St. Patrick’s Day forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a high near 51°F, offering a break from the unsettled weather. More rain and a possible winter mix return midweek, with temperatures fluctuating between the mid-30s and low-50s.
