Green Bay, Wisconsin – Monday’s warm and humid weather could set the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms across much of northeast Wisconsin, creating the potential for damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall, and isolated tornadoes before cooler, more comfortable conditions settle into the region for the middle of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, Monday will be the warmest day of the week, with afternoon highs reaching the lower to upper 80s. Forecasters say atmospheric conditions will become favorable for strong to severe thunderstorms later in the day, with all severe weather hazards possible, including damaging wind gusts, large hail, torrential rainfall, and a few tornadoes.

Communities including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Wausau, Marinette, Sturgeon Bay, Shawano, and surrounding areas should closely monitor weather updates Monday afternoon and evening. Any storms that develop could intensify quickly, leading to hazardous travel, isolated power outages, and dangerous lightning. Outdoor events may be interrupted with little warning as thunderstorms move through.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor furniture, charge electronic devices before storms arrive, and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, especially if traveling or attending outdoor activities Monday evening. Boaters on Green Bay and Lake Michigan should also be prepared for rapidly changing conditions and seek safe harbor if thunderstorms approach.

After Monday’s storm threat, a cold front will usher in cooler, less humid air for the rest of the workweek. Temperatures are expected to return to near or slightly below seasonal averages with much more comfortable humidity levels from Tuesday through Thursday.
