Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Strong thunderstorms and dense fog could make Friday morning hazardous for Milwaukee-area drivers, especially near the lakeshore and along I-94.
According to the National Weather Service in Sullivan, a line of storms will likely develop between 2 a.m. and 12 p.m. Friday, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and patchy fog. Visibility along Lake Michigan could suddenly drop to a half mile or less, especially in Racine, Kenosha, and downtown Milwaukee.
Friday’s storms could deliver up to three-quarters of an inch of rain. Motorists are urged to slow down, turn on headlights, and avoid flooded roads. Gusty winds may accompany stronger cells, and minor localized flooding is possible where showers linger.
Thunderstorm chances return Sunday afternoon and Monday, though Saturday remains dry and mostly sunny. Temperatures will rise from the upper 70s Friday to the upper 80s by Sunday, with summer humidity building back in.
Officials recommend checking alerts before traveling this weekend and preparing for possible delays. Spotter activation isn’t expected, but flooding reports are appreciated by the NWS.
