Milwaukee, WI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of southeastern and central Wisconsin as snow and strong winds continue to impact the region through early Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Dodge, Ozaukee, and Washington counties will see additional snowfall of 1 to 3 inches, with winds gusting up to 50 mph. The advisory remains active until 7 a.m. CDT Thursday, with hazardous travel conditions expected.
Further west, Columbia, Green Lake, Marquette, and Sauk counties are also under a winter weather advisory, with snowfall of up to two inches and wind gusts reaching 45 mph. This advisory is in place until 4 a.m. CDT Thursday. Patchy blowing and drifting snow may reduce visibility for drivers.
Officials warn that slippery roads and reduced visibility could impact the Thursday morning commute. The strong winds may also bring down tree branches, creating additional hazards.
Travelers are urged to slow down and exercise caution while driving. For updated road conditions, residents can call 511 or check state transportation websites.
The winter weather system is expected to move out of the region by late Thursday morning, allowing for improved travel conditions throughout the day.
