Milwaukee, Wis. – Lingering wildfire smoke and a round of scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact southeast Wisconsin by Saturday, July 26, marking a potentially disruptive weekend for outdoor events, travel, and public health.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, an Air Quality Advisory remains in effect through 11 p.m. Friday for much of central and southeastern Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, Kenosha, Waukesha, and Fond du Lac counties. Smoke from Canadian wildfires continues drifting south along Lake Michigan, creating unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups such as those with asthma or heart disease.
Rain and thunderstorm chances increase Saturday, with the National Weather Service noting a 40% chance of precipitation across Milwaukee County and nearby areas. Thunderstorms may roll in after 1 p.m., potentially interrupting weekend plans. Winds will shift southeast at 10 mph with a high around 84°F.
If you’re planning to be outside, monitor air quality reports, reschedule strenuous activities, and limit exposure during high-smoke periods. On the roads, keep alert near Lake Drive and I-94, especially if visibility drops.
