Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Air quality remains a concern across southern Wisconsin Tuesday night as wildfire smoke blankets the region, with a state-issued advisory in effect until noon Wednesday. The haze will persist through Wednesday morning, impacting visibility and possibly aggravating respiratory issues for sensitive groups.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, patchy fog may also develop overnight in river valleys and low-lying areas, creating additional hazards for early morning commuters. A slight chance of thunderstorms returns Thursday afternoon, with the best chance of rain and lightning moving in Sunday and continuing into early next week.

Wednesday: Skies will gradually clear, but smoke will linger through at least 9 a.m. Temperatures will rise to the low 80s under mostly sunny skies, with light southeast winds.

Thursday: Look for partly sunny conditions with a 20% chance of afternoon storms and highs near 86°F. Storms remain possible Thursday night with lows around 70°F.

Friday: Mostly sunny and warmer, reaching 88°F, with calm winds shifting south.

Saturday into Sunday: Hot and humid Saturday with highs near 91°F. A better chance for storms arrives late Saturday into Sunday, especially after 1 p.m., with cooler temps by Monday.

Residents are urged to limit prolonged outdoor activity until smoke conditions improve and to prepare for possible weather changes heading into the weekend. Another advisory or weather alert may be issued if storm chances increase.
