Green Bay, Wis. – Most of Wisconsin will stay dry through the afternoon and evening hours this Independence Day, but residents should watch for a few isolated thunderstorms before sunset—especially in inland areas where highs are pushing near 90°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, pop-up showers and storms are possible through early evening, particularly in cities like Wausau, Rhinelander, and Wisconsin Rapids. Skies will remain mostly sunny, but brief downpours or lightning could disrupt late-day barbecues or travel plans. Areas closest to Lake Michigan, including Sturgeon Bay and Manitowoc, will remain cooler in the 70s.

Storm chances are highest where daytime heating peaks, with temps in the mid to upper 80s in central and northeastern parts of the state. If you’re spending time outdoors, keep radar apps handy and move indoors at the first sign of thunder.

Any showers that develop are expected to dissipate after sunset. No severe weather is anticipated, but localized rain and wind are possible in stronger cells.

⚠️ Warnings remain minimal, but isolated storm activity could flare through 8 p.m. Friday.
