MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The quiet chill hanging over Lake Michigan this morning is only a preview of what’s coming next. Skies across southeastern Wisconsin remain heavy and gray as a colder air mass presses south, setting up the region’s first true winter weather tease of the season.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, periods of rain will develop later today before transitioning into a rain-and-snow mix by late evening. North winds strengthen steadily, gusting 25 to 30 mph along I-94, dropping wind chills into the upper 20s as temperatures slide toward freezing.

By early Sunday, snow showers could briefly coat grassy areas and elevated surfaces, especially west and north of downtown Milwaukee. Accumulations should remain light—less than an inch in most spots—but visibility will drop at times in heavier bursts. Sunday’s high will struggle to reach 35°F, and the wind off the lake will make it feel even colder.

The unsettled pattern lingers into Monday with a few lingering flurries and gusty northwest winds keeping highs near 38°F. Veterans Day brings welcome sunshine and calmer conditions, but temperatures stay chilly, topping out around 43°F under bright skies.

Midweek offers a brief warm-up as highs return to the upper 40s and low 50s, perfect for raking leaves or prepping outdoor decorations before Thanksgiving travel begins later this month. Still, forecasters hint that another cold snap could return before the holiday, signaling winter’s early arrival across Wisconsin’s southern lakeshore.
