Wisconsin Weather Alert: Rain Returns Midweek Before a Sunny Fall Weekend in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Western Wisconsin is heading into a cloudy and damp midweek stretch before sunshine and cooler air return just in time for the weekend. Rounds of light rain and a few isolated thunderstorms will pass through the area through Friday, followed by a bright and breezy Saturday perfect for outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, the first round of showers develops late Tuesday with an 80% chance of rain overnight. Highs will stay in the lower 60s Tuesday and Wednesday as light northeast winds turn east by Thursday. Scattered showers will persist through Thursday afternoon, with brief rumbles of thunder possible along I-90 and near the Mississippi River valley.

By Friday, a few lingering showers may pass before skies clear quickly into Saturday. Highs will rebound to the mid-70s Friday before dipping into the upper 60s over the weekend under sunshine and light west winds. Forecasters expect excellent visibility and crisp fall air across La Crosse, Onalaska, and Holmen by early Saturday β€” ideal for leaf viewing and local fall festivals.

Travelers and commuters should expect wet pavement through midweek but improving conditions late Friday. Afterward, dry air dominates, kicking off a pleasant, golden-hued October weekend across western Wisconsin.
